May Is ending on such a high note. I taught my second Fly Tying Class at RiverRock Outfitter last Saturday. Three more folks got an overview of tying flies and an invitation to learn more. along with The classes I got to go to My local Club meeting finally. My crazy schedule has kept me away from the Falmouth Flats Fly Fishers for far to long. They are a great group and the club grows constantly. It has become a model club of great activities, fantatic friendsips, learning and advocay.
MY next stop is coming up May 30th and 31st. I will be at the Appalachian Fly Fishing Festival In Thomas West Virginia. I will be fly tying all day each day and IM hosting a Bugs and Suds at The Big Timber Logging Camp Brewery on The 30th.
Right now Im working on my next video. The Sulfur Dun. It is a great fly this time of year for late afternoon early evening sulfur hatches.
Tomorrow is Memorial Day. For me this holiday is bittersweet. Having visited post war Europe, growing up in the vieatnam era, serving during the final days of the cold war, and knowing so many people who have served in the middle east, This holiday is not about fun in the sun. it about remebering the ultimate cost of war. Take time to pause, reflect, and honor our country's fallen heros. If you can, take a vet fishing. You will not forget that fishing trip.
