Getting ready for the road!

well sort of. Ive been preparing for the fall season here. first off with the heat of summer my no conditioned workshop is closed for at least another couple of weeks. It been too hot and humid to build nets. I am slowly getting the hand of adobe premier pro to edit my videos. Hence the reason i have not put up as many videos recently. Rest assured I have a lot of B roll. Now to cut it and put it together.

I will be hosting the DC Festival of Magic over labor day weekend. If you listen to the news cycles DC is under siege. NO it is not. The "fed" goons are doing a lot of standing around and annoying innocent people. They are not making any dents in law enforcement in DC however it is killing tourism. Not a political post just facts from inside the beltway.

Next up i will be in Grand Rapids for Flyfest 2025. I will be tying some of my favorite flies and hopefully giving a talk on presenting at a public event. I think I have finally cracked the code on fly line backing for Barry Ord-Clarke's Blue damsel fly pattern. Barry refers to Dragon fly line backing. The dragon Brand is distributed from South Africa apparently. I have not found it on amazon in the USA. so I Picked up some white Courtland 30lb backing and it is so close to Barry's I can call it as a good substitute. I have tied this fly in Barry's class and It is a killer fly. I now display it with my "fancy Flies" at public demonstrations.

What is a public demonstration? Why is it different than a fly tying event? These are the events that your local community host each year. they are open to the general public and you are there to tell people about your fishing/ conservation/ education groups. These are important to our art and sport. This is where the fly fishers of the future will come from. so if you can catch me in Grand Rapids. Until then "Tie one on."
