On the road!

"OH my bags are packed I'm ready to go" the line from the 60's song are running around in my head. In just over 12 hours I take off for Flyfest 2025. Ill be at table 25 mist of the weekend. Ok so ill be doing other stuff as well. My schedule is packed! I am also in possession of my silver skills award challenge flies. Wish me luck.

A whole bunch has happened these past few weeks. First the Chesapeake Council of Fly Fishers International had our quarterly exec meeting. We will be hosting our annual all members meeting in November. Second I was selected as chapter president of Rapidan chapter 307 of trout unlimited. My term starts in October.

The Chesapeake Council will be well represented at Flyfest 2025 as several of our execs are attending.

And finally my fly tying group shirt arrived! Yes the saga of the traveling fly shirt is over! It looks great!

During a recent show held in stafford County VA., we had a chance to catch some sun fish with the kids. On this balmy day, a school of finger sized sun fish were hanging under the fishing pier. Not to be out done by some tiny fish, I tied on my very own golden retriever pupa fly. I hooked 8 of the little rascals. Much to the delight of the kids.

All in all about 50 kids stopped and either tied flies or learned a basic cast.

For now it's a quick nap the off to the airport.
